Day 1, Miami, FL to Macon, GA.

Rough start yesterday, but "you gotta have a little bit of a story" they say...

Up at 5:30am to finish packing the car and head to the DMV to get a duplicate of my license...(some police officer "accidentaly" kept it after bothering me a few weeks ago and of course i wait till the last second to get it done)
get to the DMV at 7:15, or 7:30, aproximately 40 people waiting already...ugh....
But i'm there, so i get in line, make sure i have all my paperwork...and wait. Few minutes later, an older gentleman, red faced, round, and sporting a half grin walks and and projects "Folks, our computer system is down STATE-WIDE, it may be be an hour, it may be all day"

CRAP!

peal out of the parking lot, go back home to get a few more things, and head south to pick up my friend KARA who needed a ride to orlando. We jump through a bunch of hoops to get her U-Haul back to a drop-off location, try to get the guy to not charge her for the 2 gallons of gas missing which they are claiming will cost her $30....and by the time we leave, it is now 11. WOW, so much for leaving early and having a new license, which i can't leave the state of florida without.

Boca, we pull off to get gas, and i say "its so nice that because i have diesel i don't have to go to the crowded side of the gas station, i can pull in to the truck side...hehehe.....
Put my card in, grab the nozle, pull, and the damned hose breaks in HALF!!!

WTF?!!?? caused a little spillage but seems there's a choke inside the machine preventing it from hosing fuel everywhere

Kissimee, FL....we decide to get off and try out a DMV that is in the area....there CAN'T be that many people here in KISSIMEE, surely we won't have to wait much.....
2, to 2 and half hour wait and I DON'T have that kind of time. We head over to a tax collector's office and go see inside, 1 hour 45 minute wait....slightly better......I NEED my drivers license before leaving, so screw it, this is the last try.

turns out it took us about 45 minutes to get my license VICTORY!!!!....

Another 30 minutes to get to downtown to drop off Kara, then 30 to get to Ryan's house, and then an hour to finally be on the highway out of Orlando. Ryan drove the rest of the way and we and an incredible sunset in North Florida.

oof!

Wasn't sure i'd make it out of Florida yesterday....now we're in MACON, GA...Heading to NASHVILLE immediately. looking forward to the drive.

This was not proofread...i'm in a hurry

My first ever real blog

I started this blog 3 days ago after I came back from a 1 week solo exploration trip to San Diego, CA.

It has been clear to me for quite some time now that I AM ready for change. Change in; location, lifestyle, problems, variety of jobs. Not that I want to change profession, but I am in need of something else outside of sound...something more expressive. My first change was moving to a new apartment on south beach...2 blocks north. This proved to help the situation a little bit, but I needed more. So I started skimboarding a lot more. Made a great new friend and had some great days of skimming...but I needed more. So I also started shooting...a lot...but I needed more.

I had given a few locations some thought, and visited Spain, Costa Rica, Los Angeles, France...all with the thought of maybe one day relocating to them, but nothing kept my attention and seemed like a logical solution to my internal turmoil. But now that I have returned from San Diego, I believe I might be onto something. Something good, and something big.

My heart and soul yearn for the lifestyle I have dreamed of for so long and that seems to be ideal for Tom. I want...for myself...to excel in my profession as a sound engineer, to learn, experience, achieve and grow as the professional I can see myself being. I want...for myself...to wake up in the morning and have the choice to go surfing and start my day off right, with the right attitude and mindset that life is indeed great...or surf after work...go for a hike on a sunday afternoon...drive to the desert on a clear night....or to the mountains for a weekend of snowboarding. I want...for myself and life as we will come to know it...to use the resources I possess in my artistic youth, expression, my eye and my highly technological camera to help change the downward trend of our earth's climate. Something needs to be done, and I am not ready to accept the fact that I could have done something, but instead chose to be selfish.

Sure, it is possible that this might just be another one of earth's cooling and heating cycles...or that it is all a bluff and that it is just another one of the government's ploys to hypnotize us and gain control...and truth is, I don't give a rat's ass: If more people pollute less, if less oil is being burned, if more people become aware of their affect on the earth, if less animals are being killed uselessly , if more alternative resources are being perssued and used...what negative can come from that?

So I AM going to move, I AM going to throw myself out to all the organizations that I believe are fighting for something that is good and true, I AM going to search out the things I need to be a healthy, smart and smiling individual on a daily basis, and I AM going to make a difference.

I will document the change and the difference and good that will come from it, and it will hopefully be contagious. =)

Here are some pictures from my trip. CLICK ME (All seriousness aside...this isn't necesarily part of the change)

This is the begining.

I have finally created a blog and will be posting soon. It may be the begining of something big, for me. At least I certainly hope so. Stay tuned.
